Automation Engineer
Automation Engineer
Dublin, Ireland
Full-time, permanent position
Sponsorship not available – Must have a stamp 4 or an EU passport.
If you’re an automation engineer who enjoys being hands-on and leading from the front, this is a rare opportunity to step into a role with real ownership and variety.
You’ll be joining a global, privately owned automation specialist with a strong presence across Europe and the US. They deliver complex, high-impact projects across sectors like life sciences, data centres, food & beverage, and advanced manufacturing.
What sets them apart is their platform-independent approach – you won’t be tied to one vendor or technology. Instead, you’ll work across a range of systems (Siemens, Rockwell, Emerson, Ignition, AVEVA and more), choosing the best solution for each project. This approach is serving them well, delivering 30%+ year-on-year growth, leading to ample progression opportunities.
Their Dublin office is relatively new and growing quickly, giving you the chance to be part of something early while still backed by a well-established international business with over 2,000 employees.
The Role
This is a hands-on engineering position where you’ll work on automation projects from concept through to commissioning. You’ll be heavily involved technically, while also leading elements of delivery and working closely with clients on-site.
You’ll:
- Design and deliver automation projects across PLC, DCS, SCADA and MES
- Be involved in design, development, testing, and commissioning
- Travel across Ireland and Europe (40–50%)
- Work on diverse, technically challenging projects
- Collaborate within small to mid-sized engineering teams
Why this role stands out
- Genuine technical variety – not being tied to an individual platform
- High level of autonomy and client exposure
- Opportunity to shape and grow with a new Dublin office
- Backed by a stable, global organisation
- Clear progression as the team expands
What they’re looking for
- Strong background in industrial automation (PLC/DCS/SCADA)
- Experience delivering projects end-to-end
- Comfortable in a hands-on leadership role
- Open to travel and working on-site with clients
- EU passport strongly preferred, but we can also consider holders of a stamp 4.
